Where is Malaga?
Day One: Saturday 7th June

And so it was that the Arrow Group, at it's most numerous but lacking a founder member, took to the skies in order to travel to sunny Malaga in Spain.

The group winged from East Midlands Airport to Malaga, picking up a Mercedes Vito en route. After an hour's drive we made it to the rented accommodation, a very well appointed villa at C.Marbella in the suburb of Pines de Alhaurin on the outskirts of Malaga.

No time was wasted in sampling the ample swimming polio the delight of all. The handing out of the savings money also took place which it was hoped would see them through the holiday period. After some shopping at the supermercado the afternoon turned into the evening with the group making a night of it at the villa rather than going out. Much enjoyment ensued, though later in the evening one member had consumed rather too much with predictable stomach upsetting results, most of which were delivered into a suitable bucket.

Day Two: Sunday 8th June

Day two started with the usual cooked breakfast, then it was out to Mijas, which is a tourist village, to visit a museum containing extremely tiny things. And also to eat some ice cream. And to film Stuart eating said ice cream wearing a very gay hat. And to admire the view from the mountain on which Mijas is built.

Leaving Mijas very satisfied with viewing things of a very small proportion, the group drove then to the resort of Fuengirola. Finding somewhere to park, Nic was dispatched to pay for the parking. This took quite a bit of time as it appeared to be a battle of wits between Nic and Machine. Lunch was spent at a restaurant as might be expected. All got heir meals except Nic who's mushroom omelette never came..

The rest of the afternoon was then spent frolicking and splashing about on the beach and in the sea. Stomachs of exceptional girth were to be noted, indeed it almost seemed like a competition at times.

The evening soon was upon them and this was spent in Torremolinas at various bars. Most excellent it was too, with a meal at a restaurant called La Zoca. A drive back to the villa and the group imbibed in a couple more drinks before retiring for the night.

Day Three: Monday 9th June
Ihe next morning dawned and today was to be a long day, for it was decided to take a trip to Gibraltar. So down the A8 autopista it was, and the group arrived in short order, parking their vehicle outside in La Linea. It was through passport control and a walk over the runway and they were there. Much looking about was done as one might expect. No visit to Gib would be complete of course without a cable car up to the top of the rock, so naturally that's what happened. Arrow Group monkeys looked at the Rock monkeys and no-one could tell them apart.

After that it was more looking and wandering, inspecting the casemates and fortified walls, then homeward bound once more and back to the villa for some light refreshments.

Day Four: Tuesday 10th June
The last full day arrived and it was time to do something a little more sedate after their big trip down to Gib the previous day. So to the zoo it was.

Specimens of vary kinds were to be observed, a large variety of animals much in evidence, Penguins, Iguanas and dolphins. Comment was made as to the animal's welfare, some stating they'd be better off in the wild, especially the dolphins. After that there was time for a drink and snack at the zoo.

Onwards, and the group spotted another cable car, or Teleferico as it was known, at Benalmadina. Who could resist such a thing. No-one it seems, as the group were up and away in said cable car on their way to the top of the mountain behind Benalmadina called Monte Calamorro. And very good it was too by all accounts. A look at the view once the top was reached provided a temporary rest before heading back down again.

It was back to the villa at the end of the afternoon and it was a chance to take some group photos and a final evening's eating and drinking, so was back down to Torremolinas for this and a heady night at the restaurant. Kudos given to the drivers who drove the group for the evening, sacrificing their alcoholic intake.

Day Five: Wednesday 11th June
Homeward bound on this last day. After the final handover of the Walter, where a call of €5 was made by Nick, the group packed up all their stuff and headed off to the airport, dropping the vehicle off and the flight home..

A nice and sunny trip out this year then, and next year this theme would continue with a visit to the country next door to Spain, Portugal.
