Where is Lyme Regis?
Day One: Tuesday

And s another trip begins in the usual style. A round up of the participants was done then the trip began. A stop off at Strensham services on the M5 for a Maccy d brekkie was done then later a stop off at Chard in Somerset for a coffee and cake and a look round. On the way back to the car we helped a lady bump start her car as the battery was flat. Mark did the honours in the drivers seat.

Got to the house which was not ready initially so wandered into Lyme Regis for a look round and to sound out the pubs. Did some food shopping at Tescos in Seaton. Back to the house then divid up the bedrooms. After some slight DSA it was out for the famous first night. Had a meal at the Largigi, Marine Parade which was a Thai Restaurant. We then settled on the locals pub, the Volunteer Inn on Broad Street. A very good evening as one might expect.

Day Two: Wednesday

TThe first proper day and the Arrow group set off expectantly in search of filing their ample bellies with some breakfast. Alas, they departed somewhat early and it seemed nowhere was open until 9am. So they kicked about the place until then and found a nice eaterie called Bell Cliff Restaurant.

After a satisfying munch what better way to burn the lot off than by climbing the 600ft Golden Cap? With the weather warm we set off up the long path to the summit. A most enjoyable romp it has to be said, mark wishing he had brought his Drone along for some aerial footage. Not to worry. After a rest at the top it was a descent back to the car park to travel somewhere else.

That somwhere was to be found at a nice little vilage called West Bay on the Jurrasic coast. Naturallythe immediate thought after all that walking was food. And where to procure some. They eventually settled on a place called Slader's Yard Cafe which was pleasant enough. Then it was clambering over the pebble beach to look at the Broadchurch style cliifs and dinosoar bones etc. All that of course takes loads of energy so when the group arrived back to the house there was no time to waste in bedding down for some DSA quality time. And deserved it was too.

In due course the evening arrived and thus the pub and more food beckoned. The group tried the Volunteer where they were the previous night and thus an evening's drinking and eating proved a winning and satisfying combination. It was back to the house after where a previous Arrow Trip video was enjoyed, the Group spending two-thirds of their lives looking at the other third.

Day Three: Thursday
A bright and sunny day heralded another Arrow filled experience. This began in the usual breakfast style at the Bell Cliff then they set off exploring Dorset with a trip to Dorchester.

There was the usual milling about and indecision before having some tea and cake at the Dorchester Museum 'Taste Cafe'. A bit more walking aimlessly about then it was back in the car, various Arrow members ranting at 'The Jeremy Vine Show' on the radio. They are not old farts at all, oh no...as an aside, there has been some accompaniment added to Marks 'Ratting' - Mike goes "Eeeeehaa", SJB Goes Tat Ta Tat, & CC goes Boing

A boat trip awaited the group with a trip round Lyme Regis harbour on a vessel called 'Frances Jane'.. This was all good and lived up to the usual Arrow Group experience ie being thown about and getting wet a lot. Not to worry! DSA awaited us once more upon returned to the house, but not before the old fossils went to see some more old fossils in the Dinosoar Fossil museum in Lyme.

DSA beckoned as ever after, then it was out for some scoff at the Rock Point Inn in Lyme. Very nice, with some steampunk type lighting decorations in evidence which was remarked on by some members of the group. It was then to the Ship Inn and Volunteer for the rest of the evening. Top Moment: Mark is picked on for filming an electrical cupboard in Lyme Regis gardens. His explanations that it was a cutaway shot of them all walking past is met with further derision, as they all KNOW he loves all sorts of street infrastructure. The sad individual..

Day Four: Friday
The group rose to much excitment, as today they were going to see...a Tank Museum! What more could they want? This was at Bovington, which is quite renowned as a place of err..tanks, so we are told. A couple of hours whiling away inside soon cheered them up no end. This was expecially true when entering the cafe.

After having their fill of these metal contraptions they headed then to Corfe Castle to have a look round and get ripped off by National Trust to the tune of a tenner each which of course willl be cheap in the years ahead. Also Mark got some drone footage for the video so it wasn't all bad.

In the evening the group went to an Indian for something to eat, which wasn't bad. Mark had the usual girlie Korma which again, attracted derision with the words 'mild slurry' echoing around the table, a quote originating from the 2003 trip incidentally..

Day Five: Saturday
After a final brekkie at the Bell Cliff restaurant, the group packed everything up and they left the house. Mark decided to throw the Drone up to get a front shot of the house but this wasn't a good idea as all the local seagulls decided make a cacophonous noise and dive bomb it. No matter, onward we pressed leaving Lyme Regis and they arrived at Salisbury in Wiltshire (Checks...yes it's in Wiltshire)

Parked up in the town centre then headed to the Cathedral with it's 123 metre tall spire. Naturally the drone was put to use in capturing this magnificent edifice, which was duly done. It was only noted after on the way out of the cathedral grounds that there was a sign saying 'no drones' Oh well.

Back on the road afterwards at so home, stopping off at Northampton services for a bite to eat and to recall the favourite moments of the trip.

Next year would see the group head to the east of England for their sojourn, as far east as it's possible to get really, in Suffolk.
